Why we chose this wine

Some wines tell a story before you even take the first sip. Chardonnay Since 83 celebrates Cantina Colterenzio’s pioneering decision to produce its first Chardonnay in 1983 at a time when the grape was still relatively new to Alto Adige.

The fruit comes from elevated vineyards between 380 and 470 metres above sea level, where cool Alpine air, intense sunshine and sandy, gravelly soils create Chardonnay with both ripeness and freshness.

Unlike a simple stainless-steel Chardonnay, this wine is fermented mainly in large wooden barrels, with a smaller portion in 500-litre tonneaux. It then spends approximately seven months on its lees with regular bâtonnage, developing its beautiful texture while keeping the oak refined and perfectly integrated.

In the glass, expect ripe yellow stone fruit, citrus and exotic fruit, layered with delicate hazelnut and vanilla. It is round and smooth, yet beautifully balanced by fresh acidity.

We chose it because it offers richness without heaviness a polished, elegant Italian Chardonnay with enough character for lovers of lightly oaked styles, yet enough freshness for those who prefer their whites bright and vibrant.

Serve lightly chilled at 10–12°C with seafood, savoury starters, creamy pasta, roast chicken or other white meats. It can also be cellared for five to seven years.
