Montefili Rosso Toscana IGT 2017

Both the Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc grapes make for a very drinkable wine. This juicy Rosso comes from sites in Montefili and Panzano. The grapes are vinified separately, with the Cabernet Franc in small Litersbarrels (tonneaux) and the Sangiovese in larger 2,000-litre wooden barrels. Winemaker Serena Gusmeri seeks grapes that are ‘truly representative of each harvest, no rearrangement or correction.’ She is a talented winemaker who began her journey with Montefili in 2015.

Tasting Notes: A medium-bodied wine that is decidedly round in the mouth. Think juicy blackcurrants, cherry and a hint of dried herbs.

Pairing: Matches superbly with red meat, mild game bird and classic Italian delights such as tomato-based pizza and pastas.
