A new cuvée from winemaker, Bernard with this being his first vintage produced. From just half a hectare of vines aged more than 70 years old facing full south on sandy granitic soil. The name is taken from from a plant that gives a red flower called Alizarine. Vinification is made all in cement tanks with 100% whole bunch and indigenous yeasts. This beautifully produced wine can be held for several years or ready to drink now.
Tasting Notes: Deep perfumed aromas with hints of violet and real depth and generosity and soft rich round tannins and exotic spices finishing fresh with balancing acidity.
Pairing: Decadent dishes balance perfectly with this red, including rare beef with red wine sauce or roasted duck, as well as sweet and sticky mains: Chinese sticky barbecue pork, teriyaki salmon, and Peking duck pancakes. It will be just as perfect with a plate of salami and bread under a tree in the Beaujolais. My childhood playground.
