Domaine Chaume Arnaud Vinsobres 2019

Valerie Chaume started Chaume-Arnaud when she was just 23 years old, renting 4.5 hectares of vineyards from her family. With her husband Philippe joining her in 1989, they expanded the cellar. Vinsobres is the most Northerly of the Crus in the Southern Rhone and one of the highest at 400 to 450 metres (higher than the highest vineyard in Gigondas). The grapes are sourced mostly from the high plateau and from south-facing stony, limestone clayey terroir. Grapes are de-stemmed, crushed, then fermented only with indigenous yeasts and given only light pigeage and maceration for three weeks with ageing in concrete tanks before bottling unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Notes: A superb nose with notes of cherry blossom, raspberry and redcurrant coulis. This wine is intense without being heavy. It awakens a feeling of great purity. its fruit is bright, and the acidity and tannins are very fine.

Pairing: Think hearty, meaty dishes; slow cooked stews, BBQ ribs or a juicy steak. Plate  of salami and prosciutto. Everything form this region will match it ! My home town !
